Hey folks,
I have an issue. I'm still running my 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 heavy half and once again I'm starting to have issues with my radio acting up. I'll start driving for awhile and then it starts acting up. It'll suddenly bring up all the presets and cover the screen and once I get that out of the way it decides that I want to use voice commands and starts asking me to say a phone number. It also changes my speedometer from info to entertainment.
My first thought was battery because the same types of things were happening nearly 3.5 years ago and after fighting with the dealership who wouldn't believe me when I told them it was the battery we changed the battery and they disappeared till now. So i took a battery reading and sitting idle after driving for half an hour it was down to 12.4 volts which the tester said was a medium charge. So I took a reading while running and the rapid charger is working fine because it was charging the battery up at 15 volts.
Oddly enough my next thought was if it's not the battery could it be the same problem plaguing the new colorado's and canyons where the wireless updates are causing a continual loop and draining the battery? Only in this case could the update have screwed up the radio and now it's acting up.
So has anyone else experienced these issues with the battery causing weird electronic issues and has anyone heard of the updates causing issues with the radio? I'm going to reset the radio and all the settings back to factory to see if that helps but given past experience I doubt that it'll make much difference it it's the battery or updates.
Thanks in advance.
FOG.
