Has anyone ever removed the emblem badges from your vehicle? Ive been told a hair dryer and adhesive remover works fine. When I Had my 2012 Sierra at the dealership getting warranty work done they told me they would only do it if i gave the ok for them to damage the paint if need be. Should these guys not be professionals and know what they are doing to begin with?

i did it to my '98 a hair dryer is not hot enough i used a heat gun be careful you can burn the paint take your time if you pull it up too fast you will pull up a piece of paint i did on the last piece to remove almost done and i screwed it up i removed emblems and trim

My 2012 Denali had misaligned trim on the pass side. The dealer had the molding and the Denali letters off and repositioned them back on less than 1 hr. I did not watch but body shop manager said they heat them, remove them and have special buffing wheel to remove the adhesive. They apply new adhesive backing to emblems and letters and reattach. Said its a not a big deal and there was no paint damage, cannot tell anything.
Yea i asked a dealer to remove them yesterday and they called back an hour later and said they didnt want to do it because they would damage the paint..... I then told them not to touch them if that was the case. I go to pick up my truck at the end of the day and realize they pulled them off anyways and took paint off under one of the emblems and then tried to cover it up with a kindergarten quality touch up. My truck is Diamond White and they tried to dab summit white paint onto the spots and not tell me they made the mistake and still charge me for the time. To say the least I am not impressed.

Thank you. I will keep you updated. They tried doing a spot fix but the diamond white color they tried was not right. The body shop is doing up a quote to paint the entire fender and blend it in with the door, replace paint protection film, ect. and handing it off to the service department for them to decide what to do. All i know is this better get fixed properly and at no charge to me. Saskatoon, Sk. Canada has a lot of problems with their GM dealers service work. As of now this will make 2 out of 3 Service places a definite no for repairs. I just really hope that in the end GM will stand by me if this all turns out bad for me the customer.

I ripped mine off and used some acetone to remove the adhesive and worked fine. Just a thought for anyone in the future.

I used acetone to remove the adhesive after ripping off my emblem. Worked fine and didn't damage the paint. You just have to do it quickly..
First post, but I'm in the process of doing this on our 2012. i used fishing line to pop off the trim and then used a 3M eraser wheel mounted on a variable speed drill to remove the adhesive. You can pick them up at NAPA or WalMart or order them off the web. No heat gun or chemicals and it won't hurt the clear coat. Fast and safe.
