Code P0740 I have been chasing this for more than a year! “Torque converter solenoid”. There was a brief time when this truck had trouble (a little lurch) shifting from first to second gear. That smoothed out, but THEN the check engine light came on with the code (about a month later)
I can’t get inspection sticker! So the things I have done:
Replaced Ignition Switch
Replaced trans filter and fluid and a single solenoid in the bottom of transmission (my GMC guy felt so sure this would fix it!)
Inspected wiring harnesses
Code can not be cleared
Truck drives perfectly
I’ve read everything I can find
I’m down to replacing the ECM
I don’t understand about the “programming “
How would I take it somewhere to get this done?
Any advice appreciated, totally frustrated over chasing this code!!
