I recently installed new head gaskets in my 1989 GMC C1500, 305 TBI. This includes rebuilt heads. Before making these changes my engine temp would be about 203 degs F, normal operating temperature. After these changes the engine temp is now about 230 degs F, normal operating temperature. This is a difference of about 27 degs F, and it seems like it's Running Hot!! The OEM suggests a 195 deg F thermostat. I replaced it and it seems to work fine. I am confident that there is no air in the cooling system. I also replaced the temp sensor on the drivers side head just in case it was faulty. Same Problem! Now I'm stumped! and not to sure of what to investigate next in order to resolve this issue.
Looking forward to resolving this issue!!
