I bought a used 2019 Canyon in 2021 from a registered dealer and noticed that the map software was very out of date. It lacks highways and subdivisions that were built as far back as 2007. When I approached the dealer, their reply was that I can buy updated map data. But shouldn't a 2019 model come with at least 2018 maps? I mean, the mapping supplier must do annual updates, minimum, so why isn't GM using the current software? Too cheap?
And if they aren't updating the map software, what about other control/test/engine management software? Are they saying that after the vehicle is assembled and sold, that's it? Does no-one at GM work on the system as new tech develops? Come on guys - even my fridge updates a couple of times a year. My heat pump, phone, computer and my other car update regularly, sometimes weekly. Has anyone else had this story from a dealer?
