should i get 22s or 24s for my 04 GMC sierra single cab truck?

I have a 2004 GMC sierra(Single Cab) and i would like to get 24s but i heard that the gas mileage will decrease quite a bit. if so does anyone know how much it will? or should i just get 22s and lower my truck?
The rims i want to get are the KMC SLIDE.

If you do more city driving then highway, yes your fuel mileage will suffer like your drving a city bus. If your driving out on the highway most of the time, the 24s will be better unless the highway is up in the mountains.

The 22s will do the same unless you can keep the total wheel diameter the same as the stock or close to it. Log on to tirerack.com, and you can calculate the different tire size and rim size for your Sierra.

The other thing also with the larger rims, your going to have to visit a transmission shop to have them recalibrate the transmission's speedometer and EPC valve value input from the ECM so you don't burn up your transmission. After you have done that, then your going to have to get the wheels alighned. The different wheel size will need a different setting and you may have to go with a custom alighnment to keep you steady on the highway, most people can mask the problem by replacing suspension parts like bushings and shocks. But once there worn, the truck becomes unstable again and will wonder on the highway speeds worst in the rain and snow.
