I have a 2005 gmc 2500hd with a 6.0 and a 5 speed. It seriously takes 25 minutes to fill my truck with gas. You have to go really slow or it will trip the shut off in the nozzle. ive tried everything i can come up with. If anyone has any ideas i would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!!

Slow Fuel Fill

I had the same problem on my 04 Sierra... It turned out to be the fuel tank vent. This is a solinoid valve that is located on the corner of the fuel tank near the rear of the vehicle. It was really easy to replace.

I'm chasing this prob now....believe me, it can be much more than that purge valve solenoid. Replaced that first per Youtube instructions. No change, still a slow fill. Pulled all lines off the charcoal canister next.......tried putting some gas in, no change. This really perplexed me. Next, blew out those loose lines back to tank and vent with air. got a huge ball of charcoal pellets out of one of the lines. Pulled charcoal canister.....pellets falling out the gas tank port. Cut open canister just to satisfy my curiosity....hole in that fabric membrane between pellets and ports. Today I'm gonna go to the gas station and try again to put gas in to see if that pellet plug was the culprit. If yes, then install new charcoal canister, reconnect everything and try again. I got a 800 mile trip to Michigan coming up in two weeks and don't want to spend 20 minutes filling it every 300 miles.....

Did any of you get this issue resolved? Seems like I should just be able to cut the vent tube that comes out of the tank to the charcoal filter so that it can breathe. Anyone try this?
