First off I just want to say hi and I joined just because of this particular problem.

I have and 87 GMC Jimmy 350 TBI 5.7L and i cant figure out why Im not getting any fuel. Ive talked to two local mechanics that I trust and they cant think of anything.

Ive replaced the fuel pump and sending unit, fuel pump relay, and igniton switch. All the fuses are good and it is getting spark so Idk what esle it could be... Any ideas???

Thanks in advance.

Clogged filter or fuel line? Can you hear the pump running?

All the lines are clear and I cant hear the pump running. I not even getting power to it.
Its weird because one day it was doing this a connector on the carb came loose so I fixed it and it started, then another day it did it and I replaced a fuse that looked like it had paint or something on it so i replaced it and it started so Idk what it is now because I already check those things.

I have no easy answer. I'm afraid you'll have to get a wire diagram and trace the electrical to find where the power disappears.

Could it be the computer even though the check engine light comes on when you turn the key on, or does that indecate that its working?

I hope someone with more knowledge will jump in here. As far as I know, the computer doesn't direct the fuel pump. It should go like this; ignition on--fuel pump activated.

well i can tell you this dirtclod is right. You need a wiring diagram and need to diag it to find out why the pump does not have any power.
Also have you checked to see if you have a injector pulse. And yes the computer controls the fuel pump threw the relay.
I am a 30 year tech and this is what needs to be done. Or you can keep throwing money at it and not fix it.

Im working on trying to get a wire diagram because the book I have is for the s10 jimmys or is the diagrams the same? How can I tell if I have an injector pulse?

This may sound stupid but my mustang had the same problem i replaced the fuel pump and still didnt work found out it wasnt getting power so i took a wire from the radio fuse and ran it back to the fuel pump and it worked ran it that way for about two years till i got rid of the car.

Well bradster I might end up doing something like that (exept put it on a switch)if I cant figure it out soon. I was told by two people that they had the same problem and it was the oil lever sensor, so im going to try that out and see what happens.

Thanks for the responses so far

Figured it out. Someone had spliced it in the hardest spot to get to and it came out of the connector. Redid it and walla. Thanks for the help:)
