I have a 2000 Sonoma with 77,000 miles on it. If I drive it for more than 30 minutes it starts shifting hard. If I turn off the engine and restart, it shifts fine for awhile. Any ideas on what's causing this? Thanks

I have an idea of whats wrong , so does the guy sitting across
the room from me , but we were kind of bored when we read this
and decided to liven things up around here a bit so we came up with a wager -

How long would a one time Sunday afternoon poster wait before
he came back and posted a lame comment that questioned the lack of replies
concerning a part of a vehicle that maybe 1 in a 500 people know jack __ about ?

BTW , he won the bet . I said 3 views , he said 6...

Your boost valve and sleeve could be worn and the EPC valve is compensating for the drop in transmission line pressure or the EPC valve it self is on its way out.

Start with the simple and check the transmission fluid level when the transmission is hot and have the fluid and filter changed. Don't have the transmission flush cause that tends to kill the transmission within a year.

Good luck and a fault TPS can also cause the transmission to shift hard. When the engine gets hot and other parts in the engine. The TPS may have a dead spot and can cause it to give out faulty readings causing your PCM to call for a higher transmission pressure.

As mentioned, start with the simple and service the Transmission and have them replace the boost valve and sleeve, there around $45.00 and takes an extra 8 min to replace when the pan is dropped to replace the transmission filter.

Good luck and keep us posted.
