My driver's side door speaker blew out in my 2000 GMC Sierra.

Called my GMC Dealer to order a new one. To my surprise the new speaker costs $80.....Yikes! Does anyone know if these speakers are available aftermarket and where would I be able to get one?

Thanks, John

Best Buy or Future Shop will have the Speakers your looking for and there installation techs can answer any questions you may have. You might as well replace both sides, good luck and i tend to lean towards the Infinity Speakers. :D

Molson,

I'm not sure if Best Buy would be able to help me. The speaker is mounted on a plastic bracket which snaps into the door. Seems like a specialty item to me.

The plastic mount needs to be drilled out and reused. Once the mount has been removed from the door, the you can replace the speaker. When you have installed the new speakers in to the mount, you can ether rivet the mounts back on or use screws.

Just make sure you use lock tight and a light bead or silicone around the mount where it meets the door to keep any rattling in to future. If your not sure, just ask the tech's at Best Buy and they be more then happy to help you out and don"t forget the wire code connections.

After trying with much frustration to adapt new speakers from Best Buy to the original mounting bracket, I have decided to bite the bullet and order a new speaker from GMC. New speaker design will not allow the present bracket to fit back into its slots. They are much thicker than the original equipment speaker. As it turns out the parts guy at my GMC dealer gave me a discount on the new speaker.

Thanks again, John
