i need your to help to find out what is the problem of my 1996 savana conversion by starcraft with 43,143 kilometers only. its V8 350 vortex engine i never had a problem since i bought this van in 1997 the van has been stored in my carport every winter and i always filled it up with esso gasoline with no problem whatsoever, but last october i filled it up with husky gasoline and stored in my carport and disconnected battery cable as i used to do it for the past 12 years. then my problem started last march when i attempted to start the van, it seems that there is no enough gasoline going to fuel system. i tried to start the van for two week but to no avail. a friend of mine hooked his engine analizer and there was no code found. he took the air filter cover and sprayed the air intake with gasoline and few clicked the van started.since march i have been doing this in order to start the van once i started there is no problem during the remainder of the day. i took for a drive for more than an hour there is no problem starting. acceleration smooth, responsive and no hesitation so i assumed that my fuel pump and filter is working well. since march this has been going on. if you gurus can help me i appreciated well. thank you

Start with the simple and replace your fuel filter, if the issues still there. Then your going to have to replace the fuel pump and filter. The engine needs 62-65 PSI of fuel to get the engine started. If there is less then 62 PSI of fuel, then the injectors will not work to get the engine running. Once the engine is running, the PSI should drop about 5 PSI and the engine can run with that PSI.

The fuel pump has an average life of about 150,000 miles and anything more then that is borrowed time. As noted, start with a fuel filter replacement and if no improvement. Replace the fuel sending unit, but inspect your fuel pressure first at the shredder valve for proper fuel PSI.

Good luck and keep us posted. ;)

Fixed yet?

If not you might want to look at replacing the engine coolant temperature sensor (not temp. gauge sending unit). If I understand your problem.... will not start cold but after warming up runs and starts fine, then i think there is a good chance your computer does not know it is trying to start a cold engine and does not provide extra fuel at start. Like using a choke on a cold day in times past. If you can, find some one with an OBII scanner and see if you can look at that sensor when cold and compare values to posted values for the conditions.
