I have a 2005 GMC Canyon 4x4 5 cylinder. I have had this squeal from underneath for a while. It sounds like brake but it never comes when applying my brakes. It comes and goes and lately seems to be getting worse. I only notice at slower speeds (under 40 mph). I checked the cv boots and see no tears or cracks in them. I can go for days and not hear it but then I will go for days and hear it. I have not found a way to make it happen or duplicate. But it does only happen when going down road and it seems like after I have driven for a little bit like more then 10 miles. Any ideas?

Start with the simple and inspect your breaks. Sounds like the wear indicators are starting to touch the outside edge of the rotors. Common for the out side edge of the rotors to corrode causing a ridge of rust that rub against the low pad indicators on your break pads.

Keep us posted and stay safe.
