Hello everyone,
We have a problem with our 94 sierra....Husband wants to change timing belt...but before we spend the day under the shade tree I think further review is needed
1994 GMC Sierra V-6, 4.3l, 2x4, Automatic, 8th digit Z.
The truck has two codes which I found out from the posts on this site. Thanks!
Code 13: Oxygen Sensor
Code 32: EGR System
The engine light would come on when driving for longer periods and then go out.(been doing that for a little while)
Then a knock or thumping of some sorts....sounded like plastic or at least not metal slapping under the distributor cap or air filter. It would only do that noise when first started for the day. I can drive a distance 5 to 15 miles turn off truck and when I restarted the truck back the noise would stop.
A hesitation at 55-65mph developed, not consistent, but would happen.
Okay, so today the truck finally had enough and stalled at a traffic light and has refused to run since. Has never stalled or cut off before.
Changed spark plugs two weeks ago.
Changed coil, distributor cap and button.
The plug wires are fairly new.
Had the ICM tested at auto parts store. They said it was good.
The truck will turn over, sounds like it will start but doesn't. It will back fire out the throttle body(sorry if that is not right term-it is fuel injection so it can't be a carburetor.)
I know we have to do some checking (spark, fuel, compression), but I guess what i want to know is a starting point to checking what it could be.
Thanks in advance!
