Starter issues

I have a 2007 GMC Envoy, drove it home yesterday and after I turned it off the starter was still on (spinning) the only way to stop it was to disconnect the battery. When I re connect the battery the starter starts spinning again. Is this the starter or another electrical issue ?

Sounds like the starter solenoid contact points have welded themselves together , time for a new starter solenoid. Sometimes you can beat on the solenoid with a hammer and get it unstuck but usually once this happens they start sticking more and more.
