How hard is it to change out a starter on a 95 GMC Sierra 4x4..? Looking at possibly tackling this job myself depending on the difficulty of the task.

Super easy, holding the starter up while trying to align it and bolt it up might make ur arms tired but that's about it

Great, thanks. Any tips to removing it and installing the new one..?

Disconnect the negative battery cable (at battery) and set it asside where it will not touch anything metal. You should always do this so you don't cause any electrical arcing when disconnecting electrical connections. reconnect when all done.

Thanks for the tip Z15, but already knew about disconnecting the negative cable ( At The Battery ), but it's always nice to be reminded just in case i forget, lol. I was actually referring more to the removal of the old starter and installation of the new one. Was just wondering what tips anyone could give me with this.

Yes watch for any shims that might be with the old starter. If there is any then you must put them back where they came from.

O.k guys, i waited long enough for this and now it's time to tackle this starter as it's giving me more issues in the heat lately. And i appreciate all the help so far even if i haven't done anything yet. So today i went under the truck to take a look at what i was dealing with, from what i can see there is no way for me to disconnect the connections first cause i can't even see them let alone take them take off. So the only way it looks like i can take them off is to remove the bolts holding the starter up there then lower the starter some so i can get to the connections. Have any other ideas or am i pretty stuck doing it this way..?
