Starts then dies

Recently picked up a 99 K1500 suburban with only 49K to replace my less kid friendly, slightly older Z71. The suburban starts right up then quickly (within 1 - 2 seconds) dies. Thougths on what might be wrong?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

No it is not. When I turn it over it quickly starts, then dies. The security light goes off as soon as it starts then returns on (non-flashing) when it dies. When I remove the key it goes off.
