i just bought a 2006 sierra ext cab sle,how do i tell which suspension package it haves.the truck is a one owner 101000 miles on it,from the look of the motor and all it has been well maintained,but i have no records with this truck,can you tell by the vin #

Thanks for responding,like i said i know it is a 4.8 automatic and pretty sure it has a 3:23 rear in it,someone told me you can tell by the codes in the glovebox as to what is in your truck,but i cant find the decoder for it.i plan on changing the transmission fluid and the rear end fluid,also i want to put new shocks on it,i got a carfax and it is a one owner truck with 101000 miles on it,but there is no service records that came with truck,so i want to change all the fluid just to be sure.is there any way you could send me a build sheet that tells me what tranny and suspension and such are in this truck i would be very happy.

ewrob, you have the Z85 Handling/Trailering Suspension package with the LR4 Vortec 4.8 V8 and the M30 4 speed automatic transmission. If you'd like to know any other options just let me know!

Hey Jeff,thank you for info,also does this truck come with aux tranny cooler and does it have limited slip rearend,i know it backs uo my driveway without slipping,i had a f150 and it spinned the tires

fyi - The option code on your label for the locking rear differential is G80.

GM trucks do not have a limited slip, the use a Eaton locker. watch these vids

I looked at the codes in glove box it does not have the g80 so i guess mine is not locking rear,the only g it has is the gu5 which is 323 rear,is there any where else it would say g80 for locking rear

The only thing I see for your rear differential is the 3.23 gear ratio. I don't see an option for a locking rear differential.

i want to replace the transmission filter and new fluid,i called and talked to napa auto parts today to check on a filter,it seems there is 2 different filters for that truck can you tell by the vin # if i have a deep pan or a shallow pan,i know i have the m30 transmission,but is there some kind of number identification that goes with my transmission for future reference,a friend of mine is going to take pan off and take it and filter to auto store as to get the right one but if i knew the # id to go with the m30 it would help in the future thanks ernie
