Tailgate Lock 2010 GMC Canyon

I've got a 2010 Canyon and purchased the GM hard folding bed cover. My pickup did not come with the locking tailgate handle. How do I lock the tailgate? I cannot find a pop-lock for the Canyon. The handle is chrome with the rest being body color. The dealer can get a grey handle with a hole for a lock and then we can purchase the lock and replace the handle and have that but I was looking for something simpler.

You are not the only one that would like a simple fix for the Tailgate lock. You would think they would have made it an option it would not have been expensive and would look like it belonged

Same prob here with my '09 Canyon. Called local dealer. Pain in the ass to get a locking gate. Perhaps write to GMC Hdqtrs and ask why/when?

I apologize for the inconvenience of not have this availability but I have looked on our accessories website and found that the 2011 and 2012 Colorado models also do not come with this option. I also do not have information as to why this is or when we may come out with this accessory. Thank you for your time.

2010 Canyon Tailgate Lock

Are there any updates? Has a tailgate lock become available? Are GMC dealers aware of this information? I ask because in April 2011 I purchased a 2010 Canyon with cover and an understanding that the dealer would provide and install a tailgate lock. To date nothing from the dealer. I've purchased three vehicles from this dealer since 1995 and had those vehicles serviced mostly at this dealer. That relationship is quickly souring because I have not yet received the tailgate lock I was promised. So I'm trying to find out if there is a good reason they are willing to jeopardize my business.
