takata air bag recall

I have a 08' 1500 sierra. Anyone else receive a recall letter about the airbags propellant possibly degrading over time. I got the letter last July and my service air bag light came on yesterday. As of now there is still no remedy according to the recall. I called the dealer and GM assistance, but they just basically said there isn't a remedy yet but GM considers the vehicle safe to drive. So now i'm left wondering if my air bag is going to spontaneously go off at some point now.
