I just finished changing the valve stem seals on my 87 R2500 (350 with fuel injection) and I ran the truck all day today. I saw some smoke coming from the back of the truck and pulled over to find the valve cover and gasket were a little loose and oil was leaking down the side of the motor onto the exhaust. Hence blue smoke. BUT there is a little puffs of smoke when the truck idles for a minute and I hit the gas.
Here is the million dollar questions.
1. Could oil have leaked into the spark plug holes causing the random blue smoke coming from the exhaust?
2. If I tighten down the rocker arm a little too tight, will the valve stay open enough to allow oil to drip into the cylinder causing it to smoke?
Watcha think? Any advice?
