Gentlemen I truly appreciate all the assistance. Glad to know my car is NOT going to "blow up" like I originally assumed.... Typical Gal I know...... :)
Forgot to mention, it's a 2002 Envoy
 
Check your brake fluid level. If low, you probably have worn brakes (most likely) or a leak (least likely) or a bad wheel speed sensor (also least likely). Least likely does not mean out of the realm of possibility.

As brakes wear, they do not return to the same position as when they were new. So brake fluid in the calipers and/or wheel cylinders is not returned to the master cylinder. That's an easy check to see if the brakes themselves need to be checked for wear.

Excessive wear will cause an excessively low brake fluid level in the master cylinder. That allows air into the system causing the ABS and/or brake light to illuminate.
 
you still can drive it as long as you still have brakes. it could be a bad wheel sensor or the plug-in is loose or corroded.
