I picked up a 2015 Canyon SLE V6 Crew Cab with the All Terrain Package and Bose Sound System on 12/23/14. Merry Christmas to me! I traded in a 2011 Toyota Tacoma V6 with TRD off road package. I like the Canyon but have had some problems with it. On day 1, after leaving the dealership, I stopped at a friend's house for a visit. When I got back in the truck and started it, the large display screen was inoperable, as in nothing but a big blank space in my dash. I went directly back to the dealership and the sales guy could tell by my not so pleasant demeanor that something was amiss. Fortunately, they had a fix for it. They disconnected the battery for 5 minutes and upon reconnecting, and restarting the truck, I have no further problems with the screen not working. Right now, I am having a problem with controlling my IPod via the steering wheel controls. When I select an artist, the next screen that comes up on the small display is in no way related to the artist that I just selected. When I control the IPod via the large touch screen, it operates as one would expect it to, artist/album/song list. Somehow, someway, the small screen controls are not communicating properly with the system. Pretty frustrating to say the least. I have not gone back to the dealer with this issue yet. The voice controlled navigation is useless. I tried telling the truck to go to "Delta Sonic Car Wash" in Rochester NY, and the navigation system tried taking me to a "Deutche Bank" in Germany. WTF!!! I gave up on voice commands for the Nav system after that. Storage-wise, the Toyota had much more in-cab storage capacity. I have had to scale down what I carry considerably and am now looking for an undermount tool box for the bed of the truck to make up for the lost interior storage. I added aftermarket GMC splash protectors. They are semi effective. I wish they were a little bit bigger so they would provide better protection from road spray. I noticed that on cold days (temps in the single digits) that the rear/side windows don't defrost all the way unless I really crank up the heat and keep the blowers on high, which makes it too warm for the front seat passenger and driver. OK. Those are my gripes. As I said earlier in the post, I like the truck. The exterior design looks sharp. Just yesterday an admirer said it looked "sleek". The gas mileage is a couple of MPGs better than the Toyota. I am hoping that once the gas stations switch over from winter fuel I will see another 1 - 1 1/2 MPG increase because I have yet to achieve the advertised MPG for the truck. The interior of the truck is sharp and the seats are very comfortable. It's quiet in the cab too. Very little road noise intrudes into the cabin. I have used 4WD a couple of times and have been able to effectively, and more importantly, safely drive through 8" of fresh snow on the road. Power-wise, once you get up in the rev-range, passing is a breeze. The driver information display integrated into the instrument cluster is nice, and the different menus are easy to navigate through. Overall I am happy with the vehicle. Once I get the above mentioned issue with the IPod control addressed and hopefully resolved, I'll be even happier.
