I picked up a 2015 Canyon SLE V6 Crew Cab with the All Terrain Package and Bose Sound System on 12/23/14. Merry Christmas to me! I traded in a 2011 Toyota Tacoma V6 with TRD off road package. I like the Canyon but have had some problems with it. On day 1, after leaving the dealership, I stopped at a friend's house for a visit. When I got back in the truck and started it, the large display screen was inoperable, as in nothing but a big blank space in my dash. I went directly back to the dealership and the sales guy could tell by my not so pleasant demeanor that something was amiss. Fortunately, they had a fix for it. They disconnected the battery for 5 minutes and upon reconnecting, and restarting the truck, I have no further problems with the screen not working. Right now, I am having a problem with controlling my IPod via the steering wheel controls. When I select an artist, the next screen that comes up on the small display is in no way related to the artist that I just selected. When I control the IPod via the large touch screen, it operates as one would expect it to, artist/album/song list. Somehow, someway, the small screen controls are not communicating properly with the system. Pretty frustrating to say the least. I have not gone back to the dealer with this issue yet. The voice controlled navigation is useless. I tried telling the truck to go to "Delta Sonic Car Wash" in Rochester NY, and the navigation system tried taking me to a "Deutche Bank" in Germany. WTF!!! I gave up on voice commands for the Nav system after that. Storage-wise, the Toyota had much more in-cab storage capacity. I have had to scale down what I carry considerably and am now looking for an undermount tool box for the bed of the truck to make up for the lost interior storage. I added aftermarket GMC splash protectors. They are semi effective. I wish they were a little bit bigger so they would provide better protection from road spray. I noticed that on cold days (temps in the single digits) that the rear/side windows don't defrost all the way unless I really crank up the heat and keep the blowers on high, which makes it too warm for the front seat passenger and driver. OK. Those are my gripes. As I said earlier in the post, I like the truck. The exterior design looks sharp. Just yesterday an admirer said it looked "sleek". The gas mileage is a couple of MPGs better than the Toyota. I am hoping that once the gas stations switch over from winter fuel I will see another 1 - 1 1/2 MPG increase because I have yet to achieve the advertised MPG for the truck. The interior of the truck is sharp and the seats are very comfortable. It's quiet in the cab too. Very little road noise intrudes into the cabin. I have used 4WD a couple of times and have been able to effectively, and more importantly, safely drive through 8" of fresh snow on the road. Power-wise, once you get up in the rev-range, passing is a breeze. The driver information display integrated into the instrument cluster is nice, and the different menus are easy to navigate through. Overall I am happy with the vehicle. Once I get the above mentioned issue with the IPod control addressed and hopefully resolved, I'll be even happier.

First of all, congrats on getting yourself a new ride. Design-wise, i agree that it's a handsome truck and it's good to know it's got improved mileage and drives well on thick snow. IMO, when these 'voice commands' came up, i thought people would hardly use them. Voice commands on androids/smartphones really mix things up, and maps aren't as coordinated as they tell us when it comes to navigation, so having them on cars isn't really much of an upgrade. They've yet to significantly improve voice command systems. And yes, hope you get your iPod control issues resolved. Thanks for sharing your interesting experience with this truck.

Radio probs also...

Picked my canyon up 3 weeks ago, two days later back for a reflash of radio.. Would not turn off when shutting down.. Flukie, and been fine since.. Told new software yatta yatta etc.. With the voice controls.. I found speaking really softly understands better, no slang, kinnda like a news reporter, slow, much better when doing this.. Good luck.. I love this trk..

We bought a KIA Optima for the wife this past summer. Voice activated nav sucks in that car too.

Try running ethanol free gas and see what that does for your mileage. I used to run it in my 2010 Sierra when I could find it where I used to live, mileage was closer to advertiesed.

I think they come up with highway mileage with pure gas and going 55, not 75.

Looking at a Canyon in the next year or so, good to hear the good as well as the bad.

A quick update: For MPGs, I have gotten over 25MPG on occasion driving from West to East on the NYS thruway from Rochester to Utica. Granted, I probably had a bit of a tailwind because driving East to West I have yet to average over 23MPG driving the same speeds as driving West to East. Driving up into the Adirondacks, on the mountain roads I can average between 22 and 23.5 MPG driving conservatively, aka, boring.....Driving around town, 17ish.
