Changed oil and filter 2 weeks ago. Today decided to check oil level. Dip stick was clean, no oil, checked again, no oil on dipstick, soo added 1quart, nothing on dip stick, went and added a total of 7 quarts, checking dipstick after each quart still no oil. Crawled under engine clean as a whistle, dry and no oil, started up engine, ran great, great oil pressure, no rattles----where in the hell did the oil go------answer tomorrow --send your solution before i tell tomorrow---it was so simple and i felt sooo stupid thinking of all the $$$$$$$

Case of the missing oil ---solved

When i was under the truck looking as to where in the hell the oil went, i spotted the oil dipstick by the starter---yup- the dipstick tube had rotted away behind the exhaust manifold and the dipstick was just sticking in the open air . Now to replace the dipstick tube. Does not look like a fun job.--- 100 lookies and not one reply. Typical of this forum

Years ago, they were just a friction fit. Just some gentle tapping w/wood block and then a bracket that held one bolt to hold her in place. As I recall, there was an O ring.
