i have 2000 miles on my new sierra,it has the 5.3afm 6 speed tranny,i was in front of lowes waiting to load a washer and i noticed a ticking noise coming from my truck, you can tell it when you go thru a drivethru or seting in garage,i can not hear anything going down the road,it is at idle when you hear it.i have had this truck 2 months now and 3 or 4 times when i start it in the morning the motor flutters for a couple seconds, this is not the way i expect a brand new truck to act,im going tomorrow to dealer and get them to change oil over to pure synthetic,i was going to change it myself but my floorjack is not working,i got mobil 1 extended performance to put in it,im going to inform them about the tick and motor fluttering maybe they have a fix,im concerned about this truck with low miles and seems to allready have a problem, has anyone else new 5.3 had this problem, let me know.
thanks
it is a 2011 sle sierra

Not sure why you need a floor jack to change oil. The tick is probably an exhaust leak. No idea on the flutter.

you need a fllor jack to lift the truck up unless you want to go to all the trouble getting factory jack out and screwing with it,a brand new truck with 2000 miles on it i doubt its got a exhaust leak, the ticking noise with the fluttering noise when started concerns me

Well, the other 2 ticking sounds I know of are; 1) a stuck lifter 2) a coil or spark plug wire shorting out. But as the truck has only 2000 mi on it, it shouldn't be either of those.

I have a 2007 sierra 1500 w 62000 miles. i have had that light ticking noise since i bought it new from the dealer on feb 1, 07. I never had issues w my truck as of yet regarding the ticking if it is the same noise. My ticking disappears when i get going from parking position. Also, i hear it more when it is cooler than when the engine warms up.

thanks,i think it is just the way 5.3 sounds, but i owned a 05 silverado i dont remember hearing that tic, probally nothing to worry about like you say

could also be injectors ihave owned several fords that had that ticking noise. if you are really worried get mechanic stethascope and listen under the hood while the engine is runnig they are very cheap and are worth there weight in gold

Only thing I could find remotely related.
