tie rod cost

Hello just purchased a 1996 jimmy yesterday and think the tie rods are bad on both wheels how much to get repaired at a shop possibly might need both inner and outer. ENORMOUS amount of play in the steering wheel. There is not any thumping or cracking when i turn the wheel all the way but when i jacked it up a lot of wiggle. If not tie rods what else could it possibly be any info would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Common part that needs to be inspected is the Idler Arm, inspect it for to much play when you have the Jimmy jacked up but turning the wheel to the left and right by hand.

If you see to much up and down play other then a swing back and forth play. Replace your idler arm and that should address your issues. If there are grease fittings. Grease up your from steering components with Marine grease, there more water prof and last 3 times longer then conventional grease.

thank you for the info. Wow i have this thing 2 days now. put about 20 miles on it now its leaking alot of oil only when its running. I noticed it smoking going up a steep hill. a lot of oil all over the under carriage. any info as to what this might be ? I am so sick over buying the jimmy
