Just put a new timing chain and gears on my 83 sierra. It jumped time. I was told it jumped 180 out. Everything's back together. It won't start. What could be my problem?

Hard to say, since a lot of things may have been disconnected during the timing chain work. If, however, we make an initial assumption that your valve timing is still wrong, you might pick that up by doing a compression test. If two or more cylinders are very low, it might indicate your cam timing is way off. I don't recall if you have a distributor on that engine, but if you do, an ignition timing check would also identify improper camshaft timing. If your ignition timing is done via a crank trigger, an ignition timing check may not tell you much about the cam, but it's still a relevant test. If there's no sign of improper cam timing, and there's no trouble codes that show up on your OBDI system, then fall back on the time honored questions of (1) is there a spark ? (2) is there fuel spraying from the injectors ? (3) will it start on starting fluid ? (4) Are numbers 1 and 2 happening at the correct times ? ( a tougher question). I did a lot of work on my 1979 Chevy pickup trucks, but by 1983 there may have been more electronics involved , so hopefully someone with experience on your model will chime in .
Even dopey things like a " theft deterent" system that need resetting can keep later model vehicles from starting.
