I have a 2010 GMC 1500 W/T. Awesome trans / towing mode, traction control......shoot the whole freaking truck is great and I have owned a ton of trucks. Chevy / Gmc, Ford, Dodge and Nissan. Anyway here is my question. I bought some off brand Firestone tires known as Pinnacle M/T Grizzly Grip. 10 ply. I checked the tire pressure and the folks that installed them put 48 lbs. per tire. the only specs. on the tire are 80lbs. max single or duel. I aired them down to 35 as per the truck specs. Am I missing something that the installer knows or were they wrong and over inflated them?

I put some 8 plies on a 2500 worktruck that pulls a light trailer but has not much 'weight' on the axles. THe shop aired them to the max 80psi. But it was an awful ride and I noticed after a few thousand miles they were starting to wear prematurely along the center of the tire. THat is a classic over inflation symptom. I reduced to 50psi and got great wear and a reasonable ride.

I think you are fine at 35. For no load or light load. You may want to air them up otherwise.

Crazy

Mine are rated at 35 lbs as well, but my dealer decided to skip the checks on them and was delivered to me last week between 27 and 29 lbs in the tires.
