Tire Question

I just bought a Ford F250 Super Duty 7.3 Turbo diesel. It came with 285/75r16 BF Goodrich AT KO tires. I bought new tires for my truck and told a friend she can have the old ones for her older (late 90's?) GMC Sierra 1500 extended cab. Upon further inspection I realized just how small her wheel wells are on her truck. She currently has 265/75r16 BF Goodrich AT KO's.

Question is will the bigger 285's rub on her wheel wells or cause any sort of other damage?

Okay then, I'll try a different approach.

I just bought a GMC 2500 HD Dura Max with 285/75r16's...

Geez, it's a tire question, not a truck debate.

I don't think she'd have a problem with it, it might depend on whether or not she has factory or after market rims. I had a 1995 Tahoe that I installed 285/75/R16's on and they fit fine. The ones I installed were the BFG TA/KO's, then tend to run a little smaller than other brands in the same size so that might be why they fit. But if I remember right, the wheel wells for those OBS styles were a lot deeper than the wheel wells we have today so it was easier to fit larger tires than stock. 285's aren't a big jump so I think they'd be fine, but every truck is different. Ask if they can install the tire on one wheel and test it for fit on the truck. That's what I had them do when I bought mine, they usually don't mind.
