We're looking at a basic sierra 1500 4X4. This is a basic truck that does not come with the towing package.My plan is to go to U haul and get a hitch put on. We will be doing short hauls with a boat and sleds in the winter. Will this truck be ok for this type of towing ? Thanks for info on this.

You should be fine for the light towing your planning to make and if you look closely enough on your rear frame by your spare tire, you may find the wires to the trailer connections that GM installed as a part of there generic wire harness on most of there trucks.
