Trailer Brake

I have a 2012 Sierra with a Z71 and has a towing package, It does not have the integrated trailer brake and i need to add one. Does anyone know if there is a plug under the dash to just plug my controller into with the correct pig tail ? Or am i going to have to hard wire it in?

Wow Pretty informative site apparently no one with any knowledge .. No replies in 5 days but 46 viewers, on a pretty simple question... Guess ill look around for it myself under the dash and Join a different Forum.... Just sad...Whats the purpose of a tech forum anyway...

being that I own a 1998 SL 1500 - I have no idea if your truck has a plug for a brake controller.....

if it were mine - I would have looked under the dash before coming on a forum and blasting everyone for not having an answer for me.... but that's just me.

my '98 1500 that I had the owners manual said there is a connection for the trailer on the inside of the frame under the drivers door-and it was there
Read Your manual maybe there is something somewhere on the truck..

Hmmm Did look under the dash and found nothing.. Read the book Nothing.. Came on here nothing Went to dealer yesterday Inquired and was told what to do how to do it and was printed up a diagram out of maintenance manual showing showing how it is done bought the pigtail that needs to be plugged into the circuit board under the dash in an unmarked slot and was told under the hood where i need to place a fuse i and gave me the number of the slot the fuse needs plugged into.

2011 wires are coiled up by the steering column under the dash.

I too have to have mine done. Same as yours I have the trailer package. No there is no pig tail to connect to. Yes you have to have it hard wired. From what I have read on other sites is your need to draw power from up top by the hood release. GL Yeah Pretty piss poor HELP!!
