I want to install an auxilliary transmission fluid cooler on my 2000 Sierra with the automatic 4L60E trans. and the 5.3 liter engine. I do have air conditioning , and it's a 2 wheel drive with an 8 foot bed. Does anyone have any recommendations on which cooler to buy, and whether I should still route the fluid through the stock radiator cooler first ? Thanks.

yes you still want to use the radiator part of the system
if you do add an extra cooler buy a good quality one
long ago I didn't buy quality and I had problems

GM shows an auxiliary cooler setup for your application. Part 12497071 is for a 2000 new style 2 or 4 wheel drive with a 5.3 and a 4L60E. The picture is horrible, but it shows a cooler with two lines.
