I'm going to change trans filter on 00 Sierra 1500 sl v6. There are filters for deep or shallow pan. Which one should this truck have? It looks like a deep one but would like to get the right filter the first time. It has the tow/haul button on the shifter. Also, what brand filter is recommended or does it matter?

Assuming you have a 1500 2WD new style truck with a 4.3, your trans should be a 4L60E. Your filter should be the deep pan one. My educated guess.

It is a 4.3 and I guess it would be called new style. What brand filter do you recommend?
