Ok guys. I have an 03 Envoy Xl that has the 4.2 inline 6 cylinder in her. A few days ago I had noticed that the check engine light was on so I put my OBD tool to pull the code off and it came back with code P0753 which from my research is a shift solenoid in the trans. I also noticed earlier today, its my wifes vehicle not mine so that's why I don't drive it that much, the overdrive wont kick in. While on the highway it is around 3000 RPM's and running around 65 MPH.
My question is this, if I was to replace these solenoids in the transmission should it take care of the no overdrive problem?
While in there, I will be replacing the filter and pan gasket also.
Oh yeah, isn't there a way I can get ALL of the trans fluid out instead of just replacing whats in the pan? Cant I take off the fluid line and put the car in gear and let it run out that way?
