Recently after driving the vehicle for about 45 minutes on the highway SES light comes on and when I slow in town I get hard shifts (thunk) from 1st to 2nd.
When this first happened, I wasn’t sure what the issue was. I cleared the SES light and the vehicle worked fine. Drove it several days around town with no issues. That weekend while I was driving on the highway the SES light came back on. Only after that did the thunk return. Read the code at Autozone - came up P1870 – transmission component slipping.
I have noticed after the vehicle sits overnight it drives better until I have been on the road for some time, then thunking between 1st and 2nd again.
All fluids are good and I have replaced the Throttle Position Sensor with no positive results. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer who for $130 basically said the code comes up transmission component slipping and they could not further determine what is wrong without a complete transmission breakdown to the tune of $3900.
Before I take it to a tranny shop for their opinion, I’d appreciate any input anyone might have.
Thanks in advance.
