trouble dropping tranny pan on 02 gmc sierra?

ok on passenger side of tranny there is an exhaust cover by the trans,do i need to take that off and if so how ??need answer quick i got it drained of fluid to change the filter and looks like it's gonna rain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
