Yesterday, the check engine light on my ’98 Sonoma (2.2L/AT/No AC) came on. When running a check with the code reader, which showed there was a faulty EGR valve.

This morning when I went to start the truck to go to work, she wouldn't turn. There is juice from the battery, but now there is a diode flashing on my dash. I believe this is not the Pass Lock system, but could it be something with the remote start that was installed by the previous owner, and could it have been affected by the code reader?

If so would, routing the wires and disconnect the remote starter, correct this problem?

Thanks in advance.

It could, but try to start the Sonoma in neutral first to see if it will start. Post back and let us know, be glad to help you solve this issue.

The remote start had nothing to do with the problem, it was the Auto Loc Security System, the previous owner installed at the same time. When the code reader was inserted it somehow activated both systems, which in turn affected the Pass Lock.

Thanks to a previous post by Molson on this fourm I was able to reset the Pass Lock, and the truck now works great.
