I have replaced the signal flasher because the old one kept clicking even though no turn signal was turned on nor was the 4 way flash selected.

The replacement signal flasher is doing the same thing. The clicking pauses momentarily if I press down on the flasher. Aside from the audible, all the turn signals and 4 ways are operating normally.

Until I took out the glove box to follow the clicks, I was fearful it was the Transfer Case Control Module ($300) in the passenger kick panel, whew...

May I ask for some other thoughts where I may turn off the false audible?

I am currently having same problem with a '98. I was told it was a short somewhere (big help). Also heard it could be bad ground wire in engine compartment. Have yet to track it down.
Gets annoying doesn't it?

Are you replacing the correct flasher, most times there are 2, one for directionals and one for hazards

I have the same problem with my 2000 Jimmy. Information I got off the WEB points to the turn signal switch on the steering column. Apparently the lubricant in the contacts breaks down over time and some contacts short. To replace it is expensive and labourous. Mine kind of comes and goes with the weather and have learned to live with it.

repair manual shows two flashers too

But as you can see from the photo, the harness behind my glove compartment appears to only have one...

I repair manual does show two flashers, side by side; do you think I might have another flasher located somewhere else??

For your info, according to the official GM service manual for 2000 Jimmy 4x4, there is only (1) flasher used for both signals and hazzard. It is located in the glove box. I spent a lot of hours tracing and testing the electrical circuits so the manual is correct. I also know that in my vehicle the problem is in the turn signal switch assembly. I haven't tried the WD40. I'm not sure if it will make the problem worst but maybe I will try it.
