under hood/engine cleaning

Anyone care to share ideas on how to clean everything under the hood. I have used those spray on de-greasers like Gunk but was looking for something different. Anyone use Simple Green? Thanks.

I use WD-40 to break down the dirt and grim and a simple water hose after the 4wd-40 has broke down all the grim. it also leaves the engine bay clean new look

I have used Super Clean, Gunk, and a few others. I found they all work pretty well. I always use them on a COLD engine using COLD water, as the emulsifiers work better with cold.
be advised that some cleaners my "attack" plastic or aluminium if it sits too long on those items.
