I have a 98 jimmy LTE and recently the battery light will come on upon startup and the voltage reads 12 volts.
I have put a volt meter on the battery while this is happening and it reads high 13 to 14 volts so it is not the alternator.
While the voltage is reading low on the dash with the batter light on it is very underpowered, if I VERY gently press the throttle I can increase speed, and when I heavily depress the throttle it bogs out with zero power.
there are no engine codes being displayed.
The problem seems to remedy itself after 10 minutes or so.
The problem doesn't happen when the engine is cold, only after it has been sitting for less than an hour.
I think it must be an intermittent short somewhere, but I cant seem to find it, has anyone else had this issue and can give me some tips?
