OK-- This is a long-shot, to say the least.
I own a 1991 GMC Jimmy full-size.
It is mechanically very sound.
The engine has been replaced ( used, but 60K miles)
The trans was rebuilt (700R4)
The rear end was rebuilt
All brakes/wheel-bearings/seals yada,yada,yada.
I really love this truck
The body is rotted (body mounts, too.) --it is still safe for now
I don't want to spend the fortune it would cost to fix the body-- I want to replace it.
I am hoping to find somewhere in the US-- a replacement complete body.
Sheet metal must be solid/undamaged, glass intact, wiring all present/functional.
GMC or K5 Blazer should fit-- basically, I'm looking for a person who has one with a blown motor or other major problem-- who doesn't want to fix it any more.
Color is irrelevant, mine has a removable top-- but I could live without it for the right sheet metal.
I am willing to travel long distance if necessary-- to get the right body @ the right price.
I will be taking my time on this search-- so if you run across this post, even much later, respond !
also-- if anyone has any tips on websites/publications to look in, I'd be very grateful.
I will post back/close the thread if I am successful.
They mad a lot of these trucks-- so somebody has to have one they're willing to part with.
