I have 2012 Sierra that I purchased from GMC dealer on April 30 2012 as a new vehicle.
It is 6.2 gas
It has 73,000 miles and clattering like a diesel upon start up - my neighbor works at Toyota and laughing at it.
Goes through oil, over 2 at between service.
I took to GMC dealer and they said I need new design valve covers.
Axle seal is leaking, engine oil cooler lines leaking, transfer case seal leaking and quoted $1,500 + for repairs.
I'm happy I'm within 25,000 miles and a month of my factory warranty but also very disappointed to have these problems with such an expensive and supposedly quality built truck.
I discussed warranty with service manager and he tells me I bought the truck January 07 2012 and I'm just a few weeks out of warranty by date and gmc won't cover anything.
I explain I've never seen the truck before April 30, 2012
Absolutely no help from dealer so I contacted GMC and after hours on hold I was told I purchased a used rental vehicle from dealer on August 08, 2012 (but that date would really put me in the warranty range by date).
After many hours on hold I'm then told by gmc that dealer titled the vehicle as a rental on January 07, 2012 and I purchased it used.
I told GMC my title says I purchased this as a new vehicle, and not a rental vehicle.
When I test drove the vehicle it had the temporary dealer plates and was not registered- I would not have bought a used rental vehicle.
According to GMC I've reached the end of the line with my request for warranty coverage and it is denied.
I explained in my recorded conversation that I am an Extremely dissatisfied GMC customer and they could make that a capital E in any notes they were taking.
I went back to the dealer and absolutely no assistance from dealer in coverage as they should.
I'm looking for suggestions for how to proceed next before I post this all over social media.
I've driven gmc products all my life and still have the first one from over 40 years ago and it doesn't leak like the 2012.
How can GMC hope to compete if they build them this poorly and don't stand behind the product?
