We are trying to hook up a CD player in a 2005 GMC Sierra?

The CD player powers on but no sound is coming out of the speakers. There is no amp of any kind, it's just the door speakers. There was a red wire that was wrapped around a fuse and plugged into the fuse box but we are assuming that it was a power cord. How can we figure out why there is no sound coming from the unit?

i hope you are using the correct wiring harness

if not stop what you are doing and buy the correct wiring harness for the vehicle
it cost that much money for a reason, there are electronics inside and the installation is not posible with out

find a diagram on the internet and look at the color wires those are the ones going to ur speakers. probily bad or disconnected
