When you say biggest tires, do you mean widest or tallest???
I am running 255/60R15 on 1996 Jimmy with stock rims, i also had 255/65R15 on them too and that would give you the stock wheel diameter so you will not have to recalibrate the speedometer. I found the 255/60R15 much better for my Jimmy with the front dropped 2 inches and the rear 2.5 inches and yes it's a 4WD also. These two tires i gave you will fit with out any lift and is the widest that you can put on your rims without the tire hitting any body parts.

If you want height, i believe you can squeeze the 31X10.5/15 on your stock rims. But your going to have turning issue unless your raise the front end up by turning up the torsion bars. The diameter on the 31X10.5/15 is 30.7" and the stock wheels your have 235/70R15 are 28.0" so your have about 2 inches in diameter difference.

Good luck and if you do more highway driving, 255/65R15 would be what your looking.
