Chevrolet launched its newest heavy truck, the 2011 Silverado HD, at the notoriously truck-heavy Chicago auto show. GM designers labored long to give the 2007 and up Chevy and GMC unique design characteristics, and in fact the two marques feature radically different stylings, inside and out; the two brands sport their own front clips, headlamps and fascias, bedsides and taillights, as well as different box designs.
There are differences in the model option packages, i.g content, distinct model like Denali, Avalanche. GMC appeals to a different market. I read some study a while back that said, GMC owners 2nd choice in a truck is the F150 while Chevy owners it was a GMC. So there is significant marketing studies that indicate if the GMC nameplate was eliminated, GMC buyers would not necessarily buy a Chevy.
