I have recently overhauled the gear box of my GMC Envoy 2002.Usually the oil pressure guage shows 275 KPs, but since overhaul it is more than 300 KPa. Can anyone shed some light whether everything is OK ?
You will need to do a actual oil pressure test with a tech2 scanner to see if its high. If it is high then you can start by doing a engine flush, and if problem is still there you have a internal engine problem causing high pressure such as a stuck oil pressure relieve valve. If oil pressure is good bring it to the dealership to have them reflash the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) with the latest update per TSB #01-08-49-006. Let me know if you have questions, thanks.
Could be the gauge stepper motor failed or the oil pressure sensor, or less likely, the oil pressure really is that high and you have an oil pump problem that will soon start popping seals and gaskets. Get a mechanic to hook up a scan tool that can read the true data as measured by the oil pressure sensor. If the data is good, the display needs a repair ($100 or so by an Ebay vendor, $10 if you can solder it yourself.) If the data is bad, they need to dig into the reason.
If it's sitting at 275 kps (40 psi) when the truck is turned off, your oil pressure gauge is bad. The gauges are driven by small stepper motors in the dash, I think these have been known to fail. Since you're reading 275 kps (40 psi) at shut down and 300 kps (45 psi) with engine running, it's fair to say you probably don't have oil pressure problems. The stepper motors are controlled by the ECM, but that's not likely the problem. You can find the motors on Ebay and if you're handy enough, you can replace it.
Long story short, your Envoy is running fine, your only showing a 64 kps (5 psi) increase in oil pressure that can be caused by dirty oil filter so a simple oil change and filter should fix the issues and also having the TSB #01-08-49-006 upgrade would not hurt also.
