vehicle has no heat and the temp gauge up past normal...vehicle has 123,000 miles.... coolant issues prior to this ......any feedback would be appreciated.

I know you asked this question awhile ago but i figured id still post. My heater core recently went and i changed it myslef which was cheap, the heater core and anti-freeze to change it was a total bill of $80. I was told if i had taken it to a shop it would be a full 1-2 day job which would be a high labour bill but cheap for parts so it was smarter to change it myself.

retail job in a shop is about 700 bucks all done.
Me i can do them in 2 hours but still charge the retail price. Sometimes you don't get paid for what you do but instead you get paid for what you know.

I will say dash work is one of the things i love to do.

i would say that the water oump needs to be replaced, if the problem still persists then a coolant power flush would be next on the list.

My wife has a 2000 Jimmy. In Dec 2011 we had to replace the fuel pump. In June 2012, she needed a new radiator. Now the thing is blowing cool air with the heat on max. A bit of heat will come out but then it goes to cool. Does that sound like a heater core to you? We're just about done with this car. Had it since it was new. Any opinions are welcome.
