What rpm/mph does your acadia shift into 6th gear?

I just purchased my Acadia, and have 4000 miles on it, but I notice that the transmission won't shift into 6th gear until I am going almost 3400rpm/78 mph. Is this normal for everyone else? I don't like to get my speed up that high, I have enough tickets in my past to last me a lifetime. :)

Are you on tow mode????

Tow/haul mode is a function within the Acadia's software/calibration that optimizes transmission gear selection for operation during towing or with heavy loads. This optimization includes improving acceleration performance during launches, reducing shift busyness, assisting brake performance and speed control during engine braking situations, and improving vehicle speed control while requiring less throttle pedal activity.

In general, tow/haul mode maintains lower gears longer and increases shift pressures. It is designed to be most effective when the vehicle and trailer combined weight is at least 75% of the vehicle's Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR). Operation of tow/haul in a lightly loaded or non-loaded vehicle will not cause damage. However, there is no benefit if the tow/haul is activated when the vehicle is unloaded, the Acadia will have a decrease fuel economy.

The transmission will remained in 4th or 5th at 60/65 mph @ 3000 rpm while in tow mode. If you sped up to around 70mph or more, the trans then shifted into 6th and then you can ease off the gas peddle to resume back to 65mph as the tach will show approx. 2200/rpm or so. Of course, while on "cruise" every moderate incline forced an downshift to 4th or 5th again and your going to repeat this process every time while on tow mode.:(

Hope this helps. ;)
