I have a 06 1500 4wd with a flex fuel engine and 28,000 miles. When the key is in the accessory position it starts on its own without turning the key any further. It will do this for a few weeks or so and then it will start acting normal again. This has been going on for years.
I took it to the dealer and this is what was done:
TECH TEST RULE OUT IGNITION SWITCH
TECH TEST WIRING
TECH SCANNED FOR CODE B2961 WHICH CHECK FOR SHORTED WIRING
Then they called my home and said they had tested the for a few hrs. and needed more time to check for shorts.
NOW, I already paid 108.00 for them to put the machine on it.. but they now wanted an additional $300.00 to continue checking for shorts plus whatever they found there would be an additional fee to fix.
Well, I took the truck back without going further.
Does anyone have any idea whats going on with my truck and how should I go about getting this fixed before I really have problems..
