In our truck there is an alarm type thing that goes off when we have the key in the ignition and open the door... if that makes sense. if anyone knows what im talking about and knows how to remove or disable it, please let me know

I'm master certified, been working on cars since I was 16, and I owned a 1991 Chevy S-10. Never in my life have I heard of such a thing as a "time out switch".

Edit: Thanks for the additional info. You're talking about an aftermarket item that doesn't have anything to do with the stock wiring. Sorry, no way to tell where an aftermarket installer placed the car alarm. Best thing is to take it to a mechanic and have the alarm removed completely.

I have never heard of a "time out switch", but it may be called something else. What does it do?

You have a cool user name but.....

This vehicle has nothing called a time out switch. The best thing to do is to go to a mechanic and tell him exactly what the vehicle is or isn't doing.
